Frequently Asked Questions:
1) Does Kokanee Chalets allow pets?
Answer: Yes - We love pets! Your furry family member is welcome for $10 per night in chalets and rooms. There is no charge for pets in the RV park / tenting. Our staff is very pet friendly. We are all dog owners and would love to meet your pet!
2) Does Kokanee Chalets have a beach?
Answer: Yes we have a private beach or a public beach. Our beach is a five minute walk through the forest on a well maintained path. Public launch ramps / docks are available at Riondel, Kootenay Bay and Kuskonook. Ask at the front office for directions to the path to our private beach. One of the coolest beaches in Crawford Bay is only minutes away at Pilot Bay Provincial Park.
3) Will I have to take the Ferry? What does it cost?
Answer: Maybe and it's FREE! Visitors coming via Creston or the Gray Creek Pass will not need to take the ferry. Visitors coming via Nelson or Kaslo will. Here is the Ferry Schedual and webcam view. The Kootenay Lake Ferry runs year round and it is the longest free ferry ride in North America. The views from the observation decks are spectacular. The large ferry (The Osprey) also has a coffee shop aboard where you can buy food and beverages. The average travel time is 35-40 minutes. Be sure to get to the terminal at least a half hour early or you may not get on the boat.
4) Can we have a campfire? Do you provide wood?
Answer: Yes to both! We sell wood at the front office for a reasonable price, in bundles. We can help you get it to your site. * In the event of a regional FIRE BAN there will be no fires permitted on the premises.
