Every year we get more and more bicycles, either travelling by themselves and heavily loaded, or in groups with a chase vehicle carrying their gear. Most camp, but some take the luxury of a chalet or guest room. Those with cross Canada ambitions have already crossed 3 high mountain passes to get here from Vancouver- Hope-Princeton, Anarchrist Peak and Bonanza Pass. A free ferry ride and a trek along the East Shore Road where Kokanee Chalets can welcome them is a nice alternative to the steep slopes of the Kootenay Pass. Those wanting to bring their bikes and day ride can enjoy gently undulating roads with spectacular scenery on both shoreline roads. The more mountainous roads through Kaslo, New Denver, and Slocan Valley are also a favorite.
The East Shore Trail & Bike Association recently put out a map showing all the trails on the Pilot Bay peninsula and some over in the golf course. There is so much trail to ride! Check it out.
In addition to the spectacular Gray Creek Pass and Rose Pass, the area has many “secret” awesome trails. A local mountain bike group meets once a week in summer, and anyone can join. Call us for details.
